Due to discrimination laws, a landlord cannot deny a tenant because of a disability.
Landlords cannot ask about a tenants’ disability during the screening process as this is a violation of discrimination laws.
Landlords also can’t:
· Charge extra fees or a higher rent because of
the tenant’s disability
· Ask about the nature of their disability or the
severity
· Steer them toward certain properties because of
their disability
· Require a pet deposit or pet rent for a service
animal
